Get out there! Keep Marketing in a Tumultuous Economy:
There is a great deal of uncertainty about what 2009 will hold for the US economy. Worries about the economy are directly related to how we choose to spend our money as individuals and businesses. As a small business, FliteHaus has had to analyze our own business process to make sure that we can continue to grow and prosper in an unstable economy. A few things we have found helpful over the past year are highlighted below.
(1) Refresh your marketing strategy. When the economy is uncertain, small businesses need to make their presence known. The same marketing strategy that worked in good times may not carry over into a tighter budget year. Just like your business plan, marketing strategies need reworking to fluctuate with the economy.
(2) Market smarter! You can keep your marketing message just as effective with the same budget or a smaller one if you re-evaluate your marketing tactics. Marketing effectively is all about communicating the correct message to your target market through various marketing avenues (direct mail, online marketing, email newsletters, blog updates, etc) Using your traditional venues for reaching your target markets might prove to be too much for a reduced budget, be creative! Consolidate your newsletters, use your blog more, develop your own direct mail list contacts instead of purchasing them; there are many ways to trim your budget without looking cheap or doing long-term damage to your brand.
(3) Be efficient and effective. If you know that you have large projects coming up, aim to get all of them done in one go to cut down on costs. If you have 4 print jobs that need to be done in the same quarter, run them at the same time! You will save time and money and be ahead of schedule.
